Here are some of the charities and local groups that have benefited from the funds raised by the Kiwanis Club of Timmins or by the assistance and support of the Club.

Mission Statement

The Kiwanis Club of Timmins is driven to provide the citizens of Northern Ontario with a first class, all natural sporting event with the Dragon Boat Race Festival. It is designed to promote teamwork, friendship and good-natured rivalry – all starting with the thrust of a Dragon Boat Paddle.

Each year, the Kiwanis Club of Timmins supports various groups and organizations.  Support extends but is not limited to:

  • The Tenth Timmins Air Cadet Squadron is the oldest continuous running squadron in Canada. Celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2001. It is open to boys and girls from age 12 to 17. The 10th Timmins Squadron meets Monday evenings at the Timmins Armouries. Participation helps promote leadership skills, musical talent, safe firearm use as well as effective speaking, all the while stressing the importance of a disciplined lifestyle.   • The Cubs and Scouts of Canada programs focus around six activity areas: The Natural World, Outdoors, Creative Expression, Healthy Living, Home and Community, and Canada and the World. Individual interests and skills are recognized through simple awards. The Cubs is open for young boys aged 8 to 11 years of age and the Scouts is open for boys aged 11 to 14 years of age.   • Les jeannettes est un groupe pour jeunes filles de 8 à 10 ans.  Elles se rencontrent les mercredi soirs de 18h00 à 20h00 dans la salle paroissiale St. Dominique.  L'organisme est à la recherche de parents ou de personnes interessés à aider comme chefs ou membres du comité de parents.  Communiquez avec Mlle.   • Les étincelles est un groupe pour jeunes filles de 6 et 7 ans.  Ce groupe a pris une année de sabbatique par manque d'une Cheftaine.  Si nous avons des personnes, les réunions pourront commencer dès septembre et auront lieux à la salle paroissiale St. Dominique.  L'organisme est à la recherche de personnes interessés à aider comme Chef.  Communiquez avec Mlle.   • Camp Katapao is a Wilderness Camp ready to receive your group for a day, a weekend or longer!  Attractive rental rates are in place.

  • Annual Beauce Carnaval for Children and Youth.  The carnaval will be held this year at the Timmins Square Shopping Centre, July 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7, 2002.

  • The Children’s Treatment Centre is committed to providing quality Family Centered programs and Services to Children, ages birth to nineteen years of age who have physical disabilities, motor, and/or perceptual based difficulties, interfering with the Child’s development. The Centre’s current services include Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Language Pathology as well as specialized programs.
